Down time - new artwork to clear the mind
Here's a question for you. What do you do in your down time? What unwinds your mind when you've had information overload (like me), or perhaps just a lot of stress and too much happening?
I love to create. My job is very creative as it is, but most of the time, it's a brain crunching type of creative which isn't always as fun. Learning coding, new programs, and studying on the side too, can be such a brain-drain.
So this weekend, I pulled out the good old blank canvas and paints and got messy.
I have been heavily inspired lately by great furniture design, and really love the mid-century retro craze that has hit in recent years. If you don't know what I mean, think Scandinavian furniture... Think Eames chairs....
Here's an example:

I just love this stuff....

I felt like doing a painting and thought, well why not do something more designery (not a real word but I'm going with it)?
So I came up with this atomic, retro, mid-century design that you see above in vector format. And then I painted something like it:
It may not be as super slick as the vector version above, but boy I had fun doing it. I was dancing around to 80s music... need I say more? It's 30 x 30 inches, acrylic on stretched canvas.
I think I may have to do more of these. Clears the mind like a meditation for me. What do you do that works for you?
